I was overweight at the age of 16th, or so I thought I was as I was a little chubby. I did the usual lettuce, cottage cheese and tuna diets that we all did back then.....I would lose a bit and gain a bit. After I was married, I loved to cook and experiment with different dishes and then started to put on more weight. I went through the horrors of diet pills where I ate very little but did not sleep and washed all walls daily to try to use up some of the energy those terrible pills gave you... Oh sure I lost weight but once off the pills I gained it back again. Then I had my children and with each pregnancy I added on lots of pounds. Of course in those days we were told we had to eat for two, it was good to gain weight, and no exercise allowed. I gained over 50 pounds by eating lots of peanut butter and pickles and garlic sausage. Those were my main cravings but also ate lots of other fattening foods...
I then started the diet regime that lasted for the next 40+ years...
Weight Watchers 2 or 3 times
Overeaters Anonymous
Diet Centre
Grapefruit Diet
Atkins Diet
Slim fast
Ayds (remember those little chocolate squares)
Fasting
Apple Cider Vinegar Diet
TOPS
South Beach Diet
Dr Phil's Diet
and many more that I have forgotten
So why do I think this is the one one that will work for me? Well, I always start out thinking that, but this is the first time that I do not care if I ever go off this diet. I have developed lots of variety and I feel really good on it. I have no cravings at all....I have baked many dozen buns ( for others) baked cookies etc (for bake sales) and I have never been tempted (to just eat one). Will this be my last diet?..I hope so but it will take lots of work to develop an eating plan when I have lost the weight I want to lose, to maintain the weight loss.
I have also set for my goal, a weight that is higher than what those old calculators said I should weigh at 30 years of age. Old ladies who are skinny are not very attractive and a little fat is better... Oh yes I am getting more wrinkles and sagging skin that at my age have no where to go, but I can live with all of that if I can be healthier and feel good.
